Jo Anna Johnson

Jo Ann Johnson, 61, of Evergreen, AL passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at the home of her son, Michael L. Johnson of Monroeville, AL, when Jesus fulfilled His promise to her and took her home to be with Him. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 17, 2016 at Cope-Keahey Funeral Home of Evergreen, AL with Rev. Ghani Dykes officiating. Burial will follow in Antioch Primitive Baptist Church in Owassa, AL with Cope- Keahey Funeral Home of Evergreen directing. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2016. Flowers will be accepted.

Mrs. Johnson was born February 26, 1955, in Escambia County, FL, to the late George Morris, Jr. and Ida Mae Diamond Morris. She loved unconditionally, and in return she was loved by all who knew her. She was a devoted mother, sister, grandmother and friend and she leaves a legacy of love, service, compassion, and joy. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a lifetime member of Olive Branch Baptist Church. Jo Ann graduated from Evergreen High School in 1973. She loved the outdoors, gardening and cooking for her family. In addition to her parents, Jo Ann is also preceded in death by her husband, Charles (Dickey) Johnson, her other parents Charles L. Johnson Sr. and Doris L. Johnson, her sisters Janice Johnson and Diane Weaver Cottles.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her children Michael and Julie Johnson, Monroeville, AL, and Timothy and Stephanie Johnson of Excel, AL; a fiancé Gerald Johnson of Evergreen, brothers Buggey and Gayle Waver of Andalusia, AL, Joey and Robyn Johnson of Poach, AL; sisters Terry and Sam Nobles of Evergreen, AL, Angie Johnson of Irvington, AL.; 9 grandchildren: several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Southern Care Hospice and Monroeville Church of the Nazarene for all they did for Jo Ann and the family.
