Wanda “Maw-Maw” Lucille Burks, age 81 of Evergreen passed away July 17, 2026 at her residence.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at Cope-Keahey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at Cope-Keahey Funeral Home one hour prior to the services. Chuck Morris will officiate the service. Military honors will be rendered by the United States Air Force honor guard.

 

Left to cherish her memory, daughter, Elizabeth Nobles (Donald) of Prattville, AL; brother, Harold Gene Holladay (Desiree); sisters, Brenda Swiney and Marsha Zimmerman; grandchildren, Kristie Burks (Joseph Reeves), Kyle Ann Smith, Amber West, Josephine Simonson (Tristan), Nic Nobles, Angel Nobles; great grandchildren, Lacey Ward, Akkelix Brown, Laine Ward, Kysan Crumpton, Sadee Russell, Josiah Smith, Sierra Russell, Mason Smith, Shyanne Russell, Owen Simonson, Ja’Kyle Russell. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Holladay and Lois Smith Holladay; daughter, Lindsey McMillen; siblings, Betty Johnson, Clyde Holladay, Wayne Holladay, Joe Holladay.

 

Wanda “Maw-Maw” Lucille Burks proudly served her country in the United States Air Force for 20 years. A dedicated registered nurse, she retired with the rank of Master Sergeant (E-7), leaving behind a legacy of service, compassion, and commitment.

 

One of Wanda’s favorite pastimes was watching NCIS, especially when her favorite character, Leroy Jethro Gibbs, was on screen. She found joy in the beauty of the outdoors and treasured the peace and wonder that nature provided.

 

Above all, Wanda’s greatest happiness came from spending time with her beloved grandchildren. Known affectionately as “Maw-Maw,” she created lasting memories through her love, wisdom, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her strength, kindness, and caring spirit will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
