Mrs. Susie Curry McKenzie Cook of Evergreen passed away Friday, January 1, 2021. She was 85.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Sunday, January 3, 2021 at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church. Rev. Andy Peavy and Rev. Mike Bledsole will officiate. Special music by Nancy Pate Davis and pianist accompanist, Diane Morrison. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Cope-Keahey Funeral Home directing.
Left to cherish her memory, husband, James "Jim" K. Cook, sons, James K. "Kent" Cook, Jr. (Connie) of Mobile; William Ira Cook of Evergreen; Christopher "Chris" McKenzie Cook of Evergreen; grandchildren, Regan Barbara Cook, Jackson McKenzie Cook, Laura Freeman (Robert) and Elizabeth Hatcher (Steven); sister, Mable McKenzie Morgan of Semmes, AL; brother, David Leon McKenzie (Jane) of Semmes, AL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elbert James McKenzie and Para Lee House McKenzie; sisters, Mary Lee Morrison, Jane McKenzie Whistler, Voncile Avery, Margaret Kitchens, Dorothy McMillian; brother, James Elbert "Bud" McKenzie.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions maybe made to Mt. Zion Church Cemetery, 9127 Hwy. 83, Evergreen, AL.
"Susie" held a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Troy University and earned a Master's Degree in Counseling from Livingston University. She was a 2nd grade teacher with the Evergreen City Schools for 23 years. She loved entertaining friends and family; she was a passionate gardener with flowers and vegetable gardening. She will be greatly missed.
