Robert Holland Mason Obituary

Robert Holland Mason, 87 years old, passed away on August 28th, 2025, at home, with his daughter and granddaughter by his side.

Robert Holland Mason was born on August 20th, 1938, in Evergreen, Alabama to Hugh and Doris Mason. He attended Evergreen High School and was part of the graduating class of 1956. During his high school career, he enjoyed playing football and baseball. Upon graduation from high school, he joined the United States Air Force, where he served for 4 years. He married Hazel Lucille Woods on December 31st, 1960, and they were married for 53 years. He served as Supervisor of the United States Post Office in Evergreen for 30 years. He was a faithful member of Old Town Baptist Church and a long-standing member of the Greening Masonic Lodge No. 53. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and watching Crimson Tide football. He loved spending time with his family, most especially his great-grandchildren. He was affectionately known as “Pawpaw”, the keeper of the candy and everyone’s best friend.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm., Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Cope-Keahey Chapel. Bro. Tim Covin will officiate. Interment will follow in the Old Town Cemetery. Cope-Keahey directing.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Doris Mason, as well as his loving wife, Hazel Woods Mason. He is survived by his son, Robert Hugh Mason (Bobby); daughter, Robin Mason Harden (Gilbert); grandchildren, Robert James McKenzie Mason (Alicia), Morgan Harden Wiggins (Myles), Katarina Janae Mason and Barrett Travis Mason. Great-grandchildren include Evie Mason Wiggins, Samuel Hugh Wiggins and Millicent James Wiggins.

Pallbearers include Gilbert Harden, Bobby Mason, Myles Wiggins, Wayne Stinson, Crawford King and Donnie Harden, Jr. Honorary pallbearers include Gene Hyde, Nathan Wright, John Middleton, Cary Travis, John Hendricks, Kenny Rogers and Robert Riley.
