Richard Tindol Obituary

Mr. Richard Neil Tindol of Evergreen died June 28, 2020 after a long illness. He was a kind hearted, patient, gentle man who always saw the good in everyone he met. He was 77.

He was born in 1942 to Waldo and Dora Lee Tindol of Big Spring, Texas. He left high school to join the Navy in 1961. Stationed in Pensacola, he met Shirley Fields of the Skinnerton community while visiting Evergreen. They married immediately after his discharge from the Navy in 1965. After a brief stay in Texas, they returned to Alabama to raise their family. In 1967, Richard was the fourth driver hired by United Parcel Service in Evergreen. He retired after 30 years of service.

A devoted Christian, Richard was active in the New Haven Church of Christ. He believed the Bible to be the Word of God and accepted Jesus as his Savior. He was a dedicated family man. He loved to hunt and fish. In retirement he enjoyed visiting his grandchildren, tending his garden, woodworking and playing his guitar.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Kenneth.

He is survived by Shirley, his wife of 55 years, and their three children, Debbie (Don) Langham of Prattville, Ricky (Janet) Tindol of Daphne, and Jason (Kelly) Tindol of Huntsville, and five grandchildren: Aaron, Adam and Anna Langham, Isaac Tindol, and Sam Tindol. Other survivors include his sister, Linda Ray of Midland, Texas and his brother, Larry Tindol of Pueblo, Colorado.
