Richard Elmore (Dick) Powell

August 24, 1931 — May 14, 2026

 

      A native of Evergreen, Al and resident of Mobile for the past 15 years passed away on May 14, 2026 at Crowne Assisted Living of Springhill where he had been a resident for the past 15 yrs. He enjoyed the love and respect of many longtime friends.

 

     He is survived by his sister (Annette Powell Taylor) Mobile - his nephew (Jeff Powell (Diane)) of Gulf Breeze, FL - his nieces Beverly Kubina (Gary) of Mobile - Stephanie Casto (John) of Fairhope - nephews Steve Taylor (Joyce) of Ft. Worth, TX Tim Taylor (Denise) of Prattville, Al - Extended family and many friends.

       

       He graduated Repton High School - Repton, Al / Massey-Draughon Business School in (Accounting) Associate of Science in Technology from Lee College in Baytown, Tx. He was an Army Veteran and discharged in 1958.

 

       Richard worked for many years in the chemical industry at Chemstrand Corporation (Monsanto) in Pensacola, Fl and Decatur, Al (12 yrs) and Mobay Chemical Company (Bayer) (17) yrs. retiring in 1990.

 

     He was a World traveler from mainland USA, Alaska, Hawaii, Europe, England, Australia, New Zealand, China, Russia and many other countries.

 

       Bowling was one of his greatest pleasures for 30 years. It was one he pursued in each place he moved during his career.

 

      A Christian graveside burial will be held Tuesday May 19, 2026 at 12:00 pm in the Arkadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery Loree, Al with Cope-Keahey Funeral Home directing.

 

     Rev. John Cineriski will conduct the graveside services at Arkadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery.

 

     In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Arkadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery Fund 7805 Loree Rd.
