Mr. Miller Thomas Sellers age 92, of Evergreen, passed away Friday, August 5, 2022 at Englewood Nursing Home in Monroeville, Alabama.
Mr. Sellers was born in McKenzie Alabama on April 22, 1930 and lived nearly all of his adult life In Evergreen, Alabama. As a young man he served his country in the Air Force during the Korean war. Upon returning home he married Gloria Belle Walker in August of 1953.
During the early years of their marriage, he worked on the railroad camp cars. In 1956 he began a long career as city clerk in Evergreen, where he went by the name “Miller T” or “Clerk” from all that knew him well. He had the privilege of serving under six different mayors in his tenure with the City of Evergreen.
After 30 years in that position Mr. Sellers retired and began a second career as a rural mail carrier. He delivered the mail for nearly 15 years making friends with everyone he saw each day on his route.
Upon leaving his position at the post office he was able to return to enjoying the many hobbies he had. He spent time in his woodworking shop and did beautiful oil and watercolor paintings. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. As years passed, he and Gloria could be found at the Waffle House every morning and some evenings enjoying not only the food, but the friends they always saw there.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, August 8, 2022 at Cope-Keahey Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Edward Robinson will be officiating. Cope-Keahey Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include his loving wife of 69 years, Gloria Sellers of Evergreen, daughter, Sharon Sellers Owens (Perry) grandsons, J.P. Owens (Alex), Walker Owens and Harvey Owens, sister, Annie Mae (Charles) Presley, sisters-in-law, Betty Lott and Peggy Sellers and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Sellers was preceded in death by his parents, George Daniel Sellers and Ola Alexander Travis Sellers, brothers, Ray Sellers, Frank Sellers, Bill (Treva) Sellers, Jim (Peggy) Sellers and sister Virginia (Robert) Selwyn.
