Obituary
Margaret Montez Cawley, of Evergreen passed away Friday, August 25, 2023, in a Mobile hospital. She was 88.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, August 28, 2023 at Old Town Cemetery. Cope-Keahey Funeral Home will be directing.
Left to cherish her memory, daughter, Dianne Johnson (John) of Evergreen, AL;; grandchildren, Lisa Gibson of Evergreen, AL; Michael Harper of Castleberry, AL; Hillaria Commander (Cole) of Brewton, AL; great grandchildren, Jadin Harper, Gage Gibson and Frankie Byrd; Kaitlyn Commander, Nathan Commander and Carson Commander. She was preceded in death by her parents, Estel Ross and Pauline Elizabeth Fields Ross; husband, George Cawley, Jr.; and a son, Ronnie Cawley, sister, Faye Mayfield and brothers, Leon Ross and Bonnie Ross.
If only one word could be used to describe Montez, it would be "love". She hugged everybody! Even if she had just met a person, she would end the conversation with, "I know you don't know me, but I love you!". Most people who knew her revered her as their "second mother". She will be greatly missed by her family and friends and most certainly by her little dog, "Little Man".
