Marcus Eugene “Gene” Henderson, age 90,passed 

away peacefully at his home in Perdido Key, FL on 

Saturday, January 13, 2024 

surrounded by family and friends. Gene was born 

October 18, 1933 in

Ozark, Dale County,Alabama to the late

 Mr. Toliver Young Henderson, Sr.

and Mary Velma Thompson Henderson. A 1951 

graduate of Evergreen High School, 

Gene enlisted in the 

U.S. Navy, received his training in

San Diego, California and served 

on board the USS Salisbury Sound AV-13 from 1952-

1954. He married Rose Marie Kozik in October 

1959 in Washington, D.C. He attended American 

University from which he received his 

Bachelor of Science degree in Business 

Administration. Gene was a successful businessman 

for many years in the Washington, DC 

area where he resided with his wife, Rose.

Gene was preceded in death by his father,

Toliver Young Henderson, Sr. and mother, 

Mary Velma Thompson Henderson; his step-mother,

Mrs. Stella Harvell Price Henderson; 

his wifeMrs. Rose Marie Kozik Henderson; 

his brother, T.Y. Henderson, Jr.; and his step-brother J.W.

Price and his wife Ruth Price. Gene is survived by 

Patricia “Patty” Snowden Law, 

fiance', Gulf Breeze, FL; his step-sister, 

Mrs. Barbara Price Crawford,

 Evergreen, AL; sister in law;

 Mrs. Judith Rice Henderson, 

Saskatoon,Saskatchewan, Canada; brother-in-law, 

Walter Kozik and wife, Jeanne Castell Kozik, 

AtlantaGA; nephews Paul and lan Henderson, 

and nieces, Teenie Price Wehmeier, Tammy Price

 andLeigh Anne Crawford, along with extended family members 

and friends.

Funeral services 11:00 A.M. on Thursday January 

18th 2024 at Cope-Keahey Chapel. will be held at the

Private burial will follow in the Evergreen Old Historical Cemetery, Perryman Street, 

Evergreen, AL . Rev. Edward Robinson will officiate. Cope-Keahey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. 

The family has requested that

Foundation, or military charity of your choice.
