Mamie Lou (Griffin) Kendrick Obituary

Mamie Lou Griffin Kendrick, 92, of Evergreen passed away peacefully, November 28, 2025 at Englewood Nursing Home (Monroeville) surrounded by her family.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 2nd at Cope-Keahey Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at Cope-Keahey Funeral Home one hour prior to the services. Rev. Mike Ellis, Rev. Greg Hart and Rev. Edward Robinson will officiate. Gene Lasley will provide special music. Interment will follow in the Magnolia Cemetery. Cope-Keahey Funeral Home directing.

 

Serving as pallbearers will be Matt Howard, Clay Hammock, Wesley Kendrick, Jesse Kendrick, Kent Kendrick, Jr., Marcus Carlisle, Erik Von Bergen and Matthew Williams.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be  made to Bower Memorial Baptist Church. 

 

Left to cherish her memory, sons, Kent Kendrick (Patricia) of Dothan, AL; Gordon Kendrick (Sharon) of St. Petersburg, Florida; Jerry Kendrick (Oneida) of Evergreen, AL; Donnie Kendrick (Doreen) of Bainbridge, Georgia; daughters, Linda Carlisle (Richard) of Terrytown, Louisiana; Connie Baggett (Scott) of Orange Beach, Alabama; Joan Lyons (Doug) of Pensacola, Florida; 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. 

 

Mamie was the family’s matriarch, being sharp-witted, devoted, persistent, courageous, and sassy. Above all, she loved God, family and friends. She loved flower gardening, cooking, traveling and spending time with her family. She was a member of Bower Memorial Baptist Church.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Kendrick. Also passing before her were her parents, Sam and Fannie Griffin, as well as her brothers, (Leon, Harvey and Artis) and sisters (Nana Lee, Merle and Betty Sue).

 

On behalf of the family, a special thank you to all of the staff at Englewood Nursing Home and Southern Care Hospice for the compassion and support provided for the past year.
