Mr. Calvin Lavon Baggett age 92 of Evergreen passed away Thursday, September 12, 2024 surrounded by family.
He was preceded in death by his parents- Missouri Pearson Baggett (Mother) and Ely Preston Baggett (Father), loving wife Sara Fussell Baggett of 67 years, and siblings- Wilbur Baggett and Elon Roberson.
Lavon and Sara owned and operated Baggett Furniture Company in Evergreen for 42 years. Some of his many hobbies included- restoring antique cars, working in his shop, building houses, and taking trips to Alaska. He was also in the used car business with his brother. Most importantly he loved spending time with his family. Lavon was a long time member and deacon of Bower Memorial Baptist Church from a young age.
He is survived by siblings- Glenn (Margaret) Baggett of Tallassee, Wayne (Celia) Baggett of Pinckard, and Jean Mick of Pensacola, Children- Danny (Dixie) Baggett of Evergreen, Cindy (Jerry Sr.) Cotten of Evergreen, Tony (Jo) Baggett of Tuscaloosa, Scott (Connie) Baggett of Orange Beach, Grandchildren- Jerry Cotten Jr., Brandy (Jonathan) Chandler, Dr. Blake (Taylor) Baggett, Ashley (Erik) Von Bergen, Drew Baggett, and Addy Baggett, Great Grandchildren- Noah (Sarah Grace) Pettis, Ashlyn (Taylor) Henderson, Aaron Cotten, Kennedy Baggett, Luke Von Bergen, and Josie Baggett.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm., Sunday, September 15, 2024 at Cope-Keahey Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Neal Butler and Bro. Jim Griffin will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Baggett’s Chapel Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm., until time of services at the funeral home. Cope-Keahey Funeral Home directing.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Bower Memorial Baptist Church and/or to West Florida Vitas Hospice.
