Ms. Weaver was the fifth of eleven children born to Houston and Myrtle Hartley. She grew up in McKenzie, AL where she dreamed of becoming a schoolteacher while working in the fields. She was a member of Bower Baptist Church, where she assisted with the Home Bound Ministry for a period of time while physically able, and the Evergreen High School Quarterback Club for many years. A humble and quiet spoken lady, Ms. Weaver was a surrogate mother to many. She was a fantastic cook, who was known for her cat-head biscuits, tomato gravy, turnips, peas, Ice Box fruitcakes, German Chocolate, Red Velvet, and Carrot cakes, among other things. Along with several good cups of coffee and conversation, Ms. Weaver dearly loved her children, daughters-in-law, son-in-law, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, extended family, and friends.
