Jerry Johnson, died on Thursday, February 19 at his home in Evergreen, Alabama. Jerry was born on December 28, 1938, to Harry Johnson and Allie Carter Johnson. He grew up in Conecuh County with his four siblings and his parents, Thomas and Allie Riley. Jerry was a 1957 graduate of Evergreen High School, where he was voted “Cutest in the Class”. After high school, Jerry went on to spend two years in college before enlisting in the United States Army. He spent two years in the US Army stationed in Augsburg, Germany. In recognition of his high proficiency in marksmanship, Jerry was awarded the Army Sharpshooter badge. Jerry spent his adult life as a successful self-employed businessman. He farmed land, worked cattle, and started his own timber business, Johnson and Associates. After retirement, Jerry spent his time traveling and enjoying nature across the US
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm., February 23, 2026 at Cope-Keahey Funeral Home chapel. Bro. Herbert Brown will officiate. Interment will follow in the Sparta Station Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Cope-Keahey directing.
Survived by son, Jeff (Tracy) Johnson of Pensacola, FL and their children, Hunter, Tristan, and Amberlynn; son, Joey (Lisa) Johnson and their children, Megan, Toni, Caleb, and Haley; daughter, Nikki (Jonathan) Johnson and their children, Cydnee and Jayce; great grandchildren, Laikyn, Waylon, Noah and Ellis; mother of his children, Judith Johnson; sister, Linda Hammonds of Evergreen.
Preceded in death by his wife, DeJuana Johnson, parents, Harry Johnson, Allie Riley and Thomas Riley, siblings, Mary Tom Cannon, Earl Johnson, and JoAnn Harper.
