Hazel Marie Braxton, 94 entered eternal life and the loving arms of her heavenly Father and her beloved husband Ben Braxton, on Monday, February 24, 2020. She was surrounded in her home by family and held close in love.
Hazel was born December 16, 1925, to Richard Lee and Julia Ward.
Hazel Had an avid business mind and was a successful entrepreneur. For many years she owned and p\operated Evergreen Flower Shop. Many years later, she went on to earn the highest achievement in the Mary Kay Corporation, her pink Cadillac. Hazel lived every day of her life to the fullest.
Her hobbies included crocheting, fishing, sewing, cooking, and putting puzzles together. She was a highly talented artist in many mediums from oils to pen and ink, to watercolors and sketches.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 27, 2020, at the Brownville Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Andy Peavy officiating.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 50 years, Ernest N=Benjamin "Ben" Braxton, and her only son in law, whom she deeply loved and cherished, Dennis Edgar Bailey, Jr.
Those left to cherish her memory include her brother, Bobby Lee Ward, her two children, Judy Braxton Bailey and Mickey Braxton (Maxine), her five grandchildren, Melissa Baily (Barrett Porter), Elizabeth Braxton Buchanan (Hucks), Wendy Bailey Stewart (Matt), Emily Braxton Bailey (Chris), and Michael Braxton and her eleven great-grandchildren, AJ Buddin, Conner Buddin, and Montgomery Buddin (Melissa), Hannah Hollis, Luke Hollis, Molly Buchanan, and Walker Buchanan (Elizabeth), Bailee Powers, Jackson Stewart, Owen Stewart (Wendy), and Brooke Bailey (Emily).
We will all miss her quick wit and a keen sense of humor as well as her guidance, her grit, her determination, and wise advice to help us through the trials we all face in our lives.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that contributions can be made in Hazel's memory to Southern Care Hospice, 116 Edwina Street, Evergreen, AL. 36401. A special thank you to Jessica Peterson and Beth Price and to all the other staff that cared for Hazel Braxton.
