Dr. Floyd M. “Mike” Cartwright, age 76, of Evergreen, died Friday, November 17, 2023 after a brief illness.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Floyd C. Cartwright and Melba Cartwright Mims; and one brother-in-law, W.C. Baggett.
He was a member of the Olive Branch Baptist Church. He was a 1965 graduate of J.U. Blacksher. He served in the Navy/Merchant Marines for four years. He graduated from the University of Alabama in Birmingham in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He graduated in 1981 from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry in Birmingham with a Doctor of Dentistry degree. He moved to Evergreen in 1981 and opened his dental practice. He served as a dentist in Evergreen for 42 years. He was well known for his love of plants and his passion for collecting odd things.
Funeral services were held Sunday, November 19, 2023 in a private ceremony with the Rev. Wayne McMillan officiating.
Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Cartwright, Evergreen; two daughters, Marlo (IV) Wolff and Miranda (Steve) West, both of Evergreen; one step-daughter, Julie (Brian) Freeman, Hoover; five grandchildren, Tanner and Mattie Wolff, Jud and Maddox Robinson, all of Evergreen and Stella Freeman, Hoover; one brother, Tommy (Carolyn) Cartwright, Livingston; and three sisters, Rhonda Baggett, Uriah, Sue (Joe) Moore, Livingston and Jo (Russ) Harwell, Fairhope.
