Eugenia (Ellis) Brown Obituary

Mrs. Eugenia Ellis Brown, age 98, passed away on March 25, 2026. She was born May 5, 1927, in Belleville, Alabama, to Herbert Ellis and Katie Lide Ellis. 


Mrs. Brown was a devoted educator, earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from the University of Montevallo. She dedicated her career to teaching and faithfully served her community as a school teacher for many years.


A lifelong woman of faith, Mrs. Brown had been a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church since 1951. She served her church faithfully as a Sunday School teacher and Vacation Bible School worker and was active in WMU. She also served as the Associational Missionary in Conecuh County and was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.


She graduated from Repton High School and was known for her dedication to education, ministry, and service throughout her life.


Mrs. Brown is survived by her son, Rev. Herbert Brown (Peggy) of Greenville, Alabama; two daughters, Katherine Steelman (Ed) of Northport, Alabama, and Frances Ford (Shane) of Pendergrass, Georgia; and her sister-in-law, Letita Brown. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Katie Miller (Aaron), Kayla Coker (Dusty), Daniel Ford (Elisabeth), and Maggie Ford; and great-grandchildren, Matthew Miller, Michael Miller, Mason Miller, Marlee Kate Miller, Emmett Coker, Emery Coker, Everette Coker, and Eleanor Ford.


She was preceded in death in death by her husband of 59 years, Phillip Daniel Brown.


A memorial service will be held at Olive Branch Baptist Church on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Herbert Brown and Rev. Aaron Miller officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.


Pallbearers will be Rev. Herbert Brown, Shane Ford, Daniel Ford, Rev. Aaron Miller, Dusty Coker, and Stephen Brown. A private graveside service will be held at a later time.
