Elbert Danny Covin

Mr. Elbert Daniel “Coach” Covin, of Evergreen passed away Sunday, November 12, 2023. He was 80.

Mr. Covin was an active member and deacon of Lyeffion Baptist Church. Also was a member of Greening Lodge 53 Evergreen. He served on the County FSA Board of Directors. Upon graduating from Lyeffion High School in 1961, he attended Auburn University and obtained a BS in physical education. He taught and coached in the Conecuh County School system from 1966 until 2022.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at Magnolia Cemetery. Rev. Mike Bledsoe and Larry Johnson will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 pm., until 8 pm., Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at Cope-Keahey Funeral Home. Cope-Keahey Funeral Home will be directing.  

Left to cherish his memory, wife, Elaine Covin of Evergreen, sons, Tim (Audra) Covin of Evergreen and Toby (Jill) Covin of Athens, grandchildren, Pierson Parker, Averie Covin and Wyatt Covin all of Athens and Lisa Ripple (Brandon) of Mobile, sister, Jemmie Faye Beesley (Hyram) of Evergreen, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Covin was preceded in death by his son, Tracy Covin, parents, Tiras and Almettie Covin, brother, Mabry Covin and sister Lennie Miller.
