Retired CSM Dudley Lynwood Godwin of Owassa passed away Saturday, September 17, 2022 at the Evergreen Medical Center. He was 88.
Dudley served his country on the battlefield in Korea and Vietnam. He also served his lord wherever he went. He was a retired command sergeant major in the US Army (Military Police) and served as a law enforcement officer for many years.
He was also a worshipful master of greening masonic lodge number 53 of Evergreen, Alabama
Funeral services will be held 10:00 am., Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Cope-Keahey Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Bobby Pitts will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Godwin Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 pm., until 8 pm., Friday, September 23, 2022 at the funeral home. Cope-Keahey Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include, sons, Clint Godwin of McKenzie Michael Godwin of Leesville Louisiana and Mason Godwin of Red Level, daughters, Diana (John) Bergman of Leesville, LA Tracy (Michael) Lowry of Harlem, GA, brother, Nelson (Doris) Godwin of Montgomery, sisters, Janice McKenzie of Tampa FL, and Annie Ruth Smith of Montgomery, 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Godwin was preceded in death by his wife, Norma J. Godwin, parents, Wherry Dudley Godwin Jr. and Jessie Mae Murphy Godwin, children, Dudley Lynwood Godwin Jr., Angela Kaye Godwin and Jessica Nicole Godwin.
