Mr. Claude Augustus “Gus” Odom, Jr., age 77, of McKenzie passed away May 20, 2025, at his residence. He was born June 28, 1946, in Greenville, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Arrie Lee Fail Odom, and his daughter, Whitney Odom Etheridge.

Gus grew up in McKenzie and graduated from McKenzie High School.  Gus always lived where he was raised. He raised cows and had poultry houses and worked at Georgiana Hospital.

He is survived by a son, Wesley Odom (Rachael) Dothan, Alabama, two sisters, Anna Odom Speir (Harold) Selma, Alabama, And June odom Stinson (Wayne), Evergreen, Alabama; five grandchildren: Broc Etheridge and Hadley Grace Etheridge of Evergreen, and Tristen Odom, Trey Odom, and Seth Odom of Dothan, Alabama.

A memorial service will be held at Graveside in McKenzie, Alabama at Pleasant Hill Cemetery at 11:00 on Saturday May 24, 2025, with visitation one hour prior to the service at 10:00.Sam Skipper, a longtime family friend and neighbor will be officiating.
