Carolyn (Bowers) Blair Obituary

In Loving Memory of Carolyn Bowers Blair

December 11, 1945 – May 31, 2025

My beloved mother, Carolyn Bowers Blair, died peacefully May 31, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, grace, and quiet strength that will remain with all of us who had the privilege to know her.

Born December 11, 1945, in Greenville, Alabama, she was the daughter of W.C. and Mary Alice Bowers and grew up in Evergreen, Alabama, alongside her sisters Joy and Betty. She graduated from Evergreen High School, Class of 1964, and went on to earn her degree in Elementary and Secondary Education from Troy State University in 1971.

She dedicated her life to education, teaching in several Conecuh County schools, including Marshal Middle School and Sparta Academy. But her greatest devotion was always to her family—her late husband, Wayne M. Blair of Evergreen, her son (me), Marcus Blair of Pensacola, FL, and her two treasured grandsons.

My mother gave of herself completely and without hesitation. Her generosity, humility, and kindness were the foundation of our home. Whether it was a gentle word, a helping hand, or simply the way she listened—you always felt safe, seen, and unconditionally loved in her presence.

She was not only a devoted mother and grandmother but also a true friend, a faithful sister, and a quiet servant of her community. Through her work as a teacher, she poured her heart into her students, always hoping to help shape lives with compassion and wisdom. She carried deep bonds of friendship and held her loved ones close with unwavering loyalty.

She is preceded in death by her parents, W.C. and Mary Alice Bowers, her sister Joy Bowers Owens, and her husband, Wayne M. Blair. She is survived by her sister Betty Bowers Rigsby of Evergreen, her son Marcus Blair of Pensacola, and her grandsons Tyler and Blair Hanks.

A graveside service will be held at Brooklyn Baptist Church Cemetery in Brooklyn, Alabama, Saturday, June 7th at 11:00 a.m. All who knew and loved Carolyn are welcome to attend and celebrate her life. Cope-Keahey directing.
