Butch Adams Obituary

Kenneth Butch Adams, age 72, of Evergreen, died Sunday, February 9, 2025 in a Greenville hospital. Butch was born on October 12, 1952, and at the age of three months, his family moved to the Jay Villa Plantation, where his father worked for many years.

 

Butch was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the Alabama Crimson Tide. He was a 1971graduate of Evergreen High School, where he was very active in the Future Farmers of America (FFA).

 

Butch was one of the longest-tenured employees in the long history of The Evergreen Courant newspaper, where he worked for 49 years and two months. He began working at The Courant in April 1971, and he retired in June 2020. Butch wore many hats at the newspaper, including service as The Courant’s print shop manager, printing coordinator, job pressman, photographer, and page composer.

 

A private service will be held at a later date.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Nell Kelsoe Adams; two brothers, Fred DeWayne Adams and William Harold Adams; and one sister, Laurice Adams Gladwell.

 

Survivors include one son, Jake Adams, Evergreen; one daughter, Jessie (John) Andrews, Pace, Fla.; one brother, Leon Adams, Evergreen; two sisters, Nelda (James) Faulkner and Cheryl (John) Johnston, both of Evergreen; six grandchildren, Leelynn Gracie Adams, Bentley Paige Harden, Lillie Mae Minchew, Warren Minchew, Houston Minchew and Dean Minchew; one great grandchild, Devontay Mallard; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
