Annie Rabren Obituary

Ms. Annie Sue Nobles Rabren of Evergreen entered the Kingdom of Heaven on November 28, 2018. She was 90. Ms. Annie Sue, as she was lovingly known by all, spent her entire adult life in Evergreen. She was devoted to her family, and a devout Christian who exemplified the life of Christ. Her sour cream pound cake, chocolate chip cookies, divinity, and cheese biscuits were legendary, as was her sweet tooth and Southern hospitality. Those who knew her would often comment that she never rested, and she didn’t. If she wasn’t working, she was volunteering at her church, baking, or headed to the Waffle House for dinner.

After losing her husband at the age of 39, she sat for her GED, and worked through retirement at Evergreen Hospital. She was known as the face of the hospital - the person who always had a smile on her face as she welcomed and greeted visitors. She was blessed to live in her home until a few years ago when she entered Evergreen Nursing Home where she resided until her death.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am., Friday, November 30, 2018, at Cope-Keahey Funeral Home chapel. Rev. Russ McDonald will officiate. Interment will follow in the Magnolia Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Cope-Keahey Funeral Home is in charge of these arrangements.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Annie O. and John David Taylor; husbands, Dewey F. Nobles and Merrell H. Rabren; brothers, Edward Taylor, Ray Taylor, JD Taylor and John (Buddy) Taylor; sisters, Ruby Long, Ethel Johnson and Ruth Rawls.

She is survived by three daughters, Julia (Arnold) Griffin of Megargel, Linda (Steve) Galloway of Burleson, TX and Sherry (Vince) Farrugia of Atlanta, GA; one sister, Mary Frances Hicks of Coy, AL; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend a special thanks to all the caregivers at the Evergreen Nursing Home, and Southern Hospice Care who loved and comforted her until the end. You treated her with dignity, touched our hearts, and comforted us during the entire process. You are angels on earth.
