Anna (Brantley) Vanmeter Obituary
Anna Brantley VanMeter went home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 28, 2026. Anna was born on September 2, 1942, in Evergreen, Alabama to the late Percy and Pearl Brantley. Raising her two sons, Brant and Blaine, and knowing them as fine adults was a true-life blessing. Anna’s marriage to Larry VanMeter was a pure joy.
Anna spent many years as an elementary school teacher. She cherished her relationships with her students and co-workers. Anna was blessed with friends from every season of her life and had an amazing ability to maintain those relationships over the years.
She had a gift for hospitality and a warm embrace for all who entered her home. The greatest joy to Anna and Larry was being “Nanna and Papaw” to their “grands.” The challenges of building a lake house together were so rewarded by the many fish fries, boat rides, and conversations on the dock about life and family. Those memories will be treasured and passed along through the generations.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry O. VanMeter, her sister, Barbara Hagood, stepson, Larry W. VanMeter, and her granddaughter, Carley Robinson.
Anna is survived by her two sons, Brantley (Anna) Watts, and Blaine (Jennifer) Watts; stepdaughters Brandy Strickland and Karen Robinson; grandchildren, Whitt (Caroline) Watts, Wynne Watts, Wells Watts, Grant Watts, Landon Watts, Nicole Robinson, Tyler Robinson, and Truitt VanMeter.
Above all else, Anna loved her Savior, Jesus Christ. Her prayer was always that the generations to come will love and follow Him.
“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under Heaven given to men by which we may be saved.” Acts 4:12
