Mrs. Alice Joyce (Brown) Scruggs, age 88 of Castleberry, passed away Saturday, June 6th, 2026. 

Mrs. Alice was known for always being the person you could go to when you needed her. She spent her days cooking and caring for all her loved ones. She valued education and was a graduate of Holmes Bible College. She also spent many years teaching in public and private education. She instilled this love of learning in her grandchildren. She loved flowers, singing, reading her Bible, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a loving, caring, cherished woman of God, and she will be greatly missed by all of those who loved her. 

Mrs. Alice was preceded in death by her husband, William (Bill) Scruggs, and her parents, Myron and Lorena (Salter) Brown. 

She was survived by sons Jim (Amy) Scruggs of Foley, Alabama, and Greg (Paula) Scruggs of Robertsdale, Alabama; grandchildren Amber (Austin) Stacey, Dakota (Kerigan) Gravitt, Rodney (Hayden) Scruggs, Jay (Amber) Scruggs, Alice Scruggs, and Jonathan (Cadence) Scruggs; 6 great grandchildren; brothers Calvin (Frances) Brown of Laurel, Mississippi and Billy (Lillie) Brown of Castleberry; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. 

Funeral services will be held at Victory Christian Center, 35 Smith Rd, Castleberry, AL 36432, with visitation at 3:00 p.m. and services starting at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, June 14th. Services will be officiated by Jim Scruggs, Greg Scruggs, and Bro. Andy Peavy with Cope-Keahey Funeral Home directing. Interment will follow at Buffington Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Victory Christian Center.
