Mrs. Mary Calloway Bethune, a lifelong resident of Castleberry, passed away Saturday, February 16thin a Mobile hospital. She was 85. She was active in the Castleberry Strawberry Festival since 1987 and was a member of the Castleberry Baptist Church. She worked 30 plus years at Diamond Gasoline in Evergreen where she made many friends. She was a lovely soul and a friendly person, so she knew most everyone in Conecuh County. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Bethune, her parents, Elmer and Margie Calloway and two brothers, Charles and Wayne.
Survivors include sons, Larry (Brenda) Bethune of Jackson and Rusty (Angela) Bethune of Castleberry, Daughters, Sharon (Tommy) Jones of Castleberry and Angie Dixon of Castleberry, Brother, Curtis Earl Calloway of Castleberry, Grandchildren, Teresa Eversman, Cynthia Denise Snider, Stacie Godwin, Michael Osban, Shon Dixon and Jonathon Bethune, 10 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Cope-Keahey Funeral Home at 2 pm., Wednesday, February 20, 2019. Rev. James Brown and Rev. Robert Godbee will officiate. Burial will follow in Holland Cemetery in Castleberry. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm., Tuesday, February 19th at Cope-Keahey Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Blake Godwin, Michael Osban, Ed Eversman, Chris Godwin, Will Godwin and Mark Calloway.
