Mr. Malcolm Wayne Tatum, age 86, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2024.
Wayne was born on January 13, 1938 to parents Patrick Henry Tatum and Ethyl Harper Tatum, who proceeded him in death. He was a member of Bower Memorial Baptist Church in Evergreen. He served in the National Guard from 1955 to 1964 where he acquired the nickname “Colonel”. Among places of employment, he worked at Southern Coach, Flexible Southern, and Steven Roberts in Evergreen. He retired in 2000 from being a truckdriver for 30 years. In Septemebr of 1938 he married Betty Elizabeth Morris who also preceded him in death two days shy of their 65th wedding anniversary. Other family that preceded him in death are; Purvis Tatum, Donnie Tatum, and James Tatum, brothers. His grandson Justin Pemberton preceded him as well.
Survivors include, one daughter, Paulette (Tim) Crane, one grandson, Hunter Pemberton, and two great grandsons, Gunner Phisher Pemberton; two sisters, Jayne Anderson, Glenda (Jimmy) Hawsey, and one brother Glenn Tatum, a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held 11 am., Monday, January 29, 2024, at Magnolia Cemetery. Bro. Drew Barlow and Rev. Glenn Tatum will officiate. Cope-Keahey Funeral Home will be directing.
