Dr. Michael O'Brian Kilpatrick, 71, of Auburn, AL, passed away on January 12, 2016. He was born in Repton, AL, on December 4, 1944.

Dr. Kilpatrick was the Salutorian of the class of 1963 of Evergreen High School. A graduate of Auburn University with High Honor, he was also a member of the Auburn Marching Band and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. After graduating from the University of Alabama in Birmingham School of Dentistry, Dr. Kilpatrick practiced general dentistry from 1971 to 1981 in his hometown of Evergreen, AL. In 1981, he returned to UAB where he completed a Degree in Orthodontics as well as a Master of Science. In 1983, he moved the family to Auburn, AL where he practiced Orthodontics until his retirement in 2007. He was certified by the American Board of Orthodontics and also served as president of the Alabama Dental Association.

He was a Paul Harris Fellow in Rotary International, deeply involved in his church community (as a Sunday School teacher and choir member), a lifelong Auburn fan and patron of Auburn Athletics, donor to Auburn High School sports and music programs, and an avid golfer.

Dr. Kilpatrick is survived by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Benford Kilpatrick of Greenville, AL; a sister, Patricia (Tim) Skipper, Greenville; brother, Mitchell Kilpatrick (Joanne), Montgomery, three sons, Michael Jr. and his wife, Jennifer, of Charlottesville, VA, Andrew, of Auburn, and Matthew, of Auburn; 2 grandchildren, Sarah Ann Kilpatrick of Auburn, and James Henry Curtis Kilpatrick, of Destin, FL; numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held in Evergreen, AL on Saturday, January 16, 2016 with Rev. Jack Williamson officiating. Cope-Keahey Funeral Home directing.

Pallbearers were Michael Jr., Andrew, and Matthew Kilpatrick, and Mitchell Kilpatrick, Tim Skipper, Bill Cutright.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 19, at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church in Opelika, AL.

Flowers may be sent to Trinity United Methodist, 800 2nd Ave. Opelika, AL, 36801. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Salvation Army.
