James Turner Murphy

Mr. James “Jimmy” Turner Murphy, Sr., age 88 of Evergreen passed away Thursday, November 17, 2016 at the Evergreen hospital.

A graveside service will be held 2 p.m., Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Old Town Church cemetery. Rev. Jim Collins will officiate. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., Sunday at Cope-Keahey Funeral Home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Saxton, Brad Gilbertson, William Cody Turner and James Turner Murphy, III.

Mr. Murphy was the son of the late Emmett Murphy and Marie Wilkins Murphy. He served in the Air Force Marines and was a member of the Evergreen Baptist Church. He was a Scout Master with the Conecuh County Troupe 40, enjoyed coaching Little League baseball and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Survivors include his loving wife, Evon Pierce Murphy;

Sons, Frankline E. Murphy and James Turner (Jackie) Murphy, Jr., all of Evergreen; daughter, Zelda Salter of Evergreen.

5 grandchildren, Ernest Franklin Murphy, Scarlett Murphy (Cody) Turner, James Turner(Lindsey) Murphy III., Serena Amanda (Brad) Gilbertson and 11 great grandchildren.
