Frankie O Phillips

Dr. Frankie O. Phillips Sr., age 81 of Castleberry, passed away Sunday July 31, 2016 at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery.

Dr. Frankie O. Phillips was a life long educator. After serving in the U.S. Army for two years he began his career in education.  He received an

Undergraduate  from Troy University; Master in education administration from Auburn University and a Doctorate. of Education from UGA. He served as a teacher, administrator,  principal of Mountville Elementary School and Head Master of St. James Academy in Montgomery,  AL. 

After retirement he served as a  pastor in the United Methodist Church to three UMC congregations in South Alabama.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Holly Grove United Methodist Church in Castleberry. Rev. Tommy Quick will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Holland Cemetery.  Family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church. Cope-Keahey Funeral Home is in charge of these services.

Serving as pallbearers, will be Michael Phillips, Frankie Phillips III, Davis Chambless, McKinley Chambless, William Chambless and David Mason.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Willette Brown Phillips of Castleberry, son, Frankie Phillips Jr. of Castleberry, daughters, Marla Phillips Chambless of Dawson GA, Karla Phillips Mason (David) of Auburn, brother Thirston Phillips of VA, grandchildren Christi Phillips, Michael Phillips, Frankie Phillips III, Elizabeth Matthews, Rachel Steele, Davis Chambless, McKinley Chambless, William Chambless, Marleigh Chambless, David Mason, Rebekah Mason and Emma Mason, and 17 great grandchildren.
