Edward Franklin Edeker

November 5, 2017

Edward (Ed) Franklin Edeker “Tag Man”, 78, passed away on November 5, 2017 at his home in Evergreen, Alabama, after courageously fighting cancer for 22 years.

Ed grew up in Evergreen, Alabama where he graduated from Evergreen High School in 1957. After high school he worked for the United States Postal Service as a window clerk for 33 years. In the 1970’s, he began collecting license plates as a hobby that grew into an extensive collection of over 60,000 car tags, earning him his well-known nick name “Tag Man”. To house his collection, he built a garage, Ed’s house of Plates that is a fortress of wall to wall license plates from every state and many foreign countries. Sharing his hobby with others gave him great joy and he was thrilled to be a Power Seller on eBay, selling thousands of plates for others to enjoy.

Ed was preceded in death by his father Edward Byron Edeker, mother Addie Bea Pierce Richardson, step-father Jefferson Davis Smith, sister Barbara Black Easterwood and first wife Barbara Duke Edeker.
