Mr. David Eugene Gorum age 59 of Evergreen AL passed away Friday, September 1, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his wife and children.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, September 4, 2017 at Cope Keahey Funeral Home. Rev. Bill Messer will officiate. Interment will follow in the Magnolia Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, September 3, 2017 at Cope Keahey Chapel.
David is survived by: his wife of 37 years, Doris Sasser Gorum of Evergreen AL
One son: Brian (Rebecca) Gorum of Evergreen AL
Two daughters: Delana (Ryan) Smith of Troy AL and Tanner Gorum of Evergreen AL
Two grandchildren: Jackson and Brianna Gorum of Evergreen AL
Three Brothers: Jackie Gorum of Evergreen AL, Kenny (Lynn) Gorum of Garland AL, and Tim Gorum of Evergreen AL
One sister: Teresa (Darvin) Hawsey of Evergreen AL
One uncle: Melvin (Jo) Traweek, Northport AL
Brother in law and sister in law: Eddie Ray and Joyce Sasser of Greenville AL
Brother in law: Ron Dailey of Evergreen AL
Many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
David Gorum was a husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for introducing new people into the outdoors. He had a burning desire to take a dog and a group of people to the woods to have a great time. David served as the President of Owassa Hunting Club for many years and as president of the Evergreen Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation. He valued his daily conversations at the barber shop, whether that was talking smack about his Auburn Tigers or talking hunting with his beloved customers. He cherished every summer at the beach with his family and loved cruising through the bay in Orange Beach on his boat.
Mr. Gorum was preceded in death by his parents Ralph Jackson Gorum Jr. and Vonell T. Gorum and one sister, Darlene Stevens.
Serving as pallbearers are: Rogene Booker, Jackson Gorum, Alvis Griffin, Glenn King, Eddie Salter, Chuck Talbot, Lee Talbot, and Steve West.
