Charles King

Mr. Charles Devon King, age 57 of Evergreen Alabama, passed away on March 8, 2016 at his residence.

Mr. King was born February 1, 1959, in Evergreen, graduating from Sparta Academy in 1977. He obtained bachelors and masters degrees from the University of Alabama, and then lived and worked in Tuscaloosa for a time. Upon returning to his hometown of Evergreen he served as president of the Beaven and Jackson Lumber and Veneer Company. He was a member of the Evergreen Kiwanis club, serving as treasurer for many years. Mr. King was a lifelong member of Evergreen Presbyterian Church, serving as a Ruling Elder and treasurer to the congregation to which he was devoted.

Funeral services for Mr. King will be Friday, March 11, 2016 at 11:00 am at Evergreen First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Bill Messer officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Interment will follow in Magnolia Cemetery.

Mr. King was preceded in death by his father James Crawford King. Survivors include his mother Winogene “Gene” Spikes King of Evergreen, and brother James Crawford King Jr of Decatur, and special friends Gilbert and Robin Harden and Mike and Allison Faulkner all of Evergreen.
