Bernice Elizabeth (Lowe) Powell

June 23, 1929 ~ January 15, 2018 (age 88) 88 Years Old

Bernice Elizabeth (Lowe) Powell made her transition from this life to eternity on Monday, January 15, 2018 @ 2:45 A.M. at the age of 88.

Bernice was born in Georgiana, Alabama on June 23, 1929.  She was married to Matthew (Mack) Powell on September 6, 1947.  In June of 1965 Bernice and her family moved to Panama City, Florida.  She has been a resident here for over 52 years.  Bernice and Mack were the parents of two sons, Larry (Joy) Powell and Tony Powell.

Bernice was a Devout follower of our Lord Jesus Christ and Loved the Lord with all her heart.  She was a Homemaker who used her gifts and talents to help her husband, raise her sons, and entertain & encourage her Family and Friends.  Bernice was a wonderful cook.  If you came to visit her, you rarely left without at least having something to eat, a small piece of cake, cup of coffee, or a glass of tea.  After having a Stroke at the age of 10, Bernice was left Crippled in her left side.  Even with this difficulty, God gave her the amazing gift of sewing.  She “Tailor Made” suits for Larry and Dresses for Joy.  One year she made the Majorette Uniforms for one of the local schools.  Bernice gladly sewed for Family and Friends.

Loving, Sweet, Kind, Considerate, and Unselfish are just a few words to describe this Precious Lady.  Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew (Mack) Powell and her son, Tony R. Powell.

Bernice is survived by her son Larry (Joy) Powell of Lynn Haven, Florida; Grandsons, Chris Powell (Holly) of Madison, Alabama; Kevin Powell of Lynn Haven, Florida, and Great Granddaughters, Isabella & Caroline Powell of Madison, Alabama; One Sister, Bettye Lowe Thornton of Montgomery, Alabama; and a host of loving family and friends.

A Celebration of Bernice’s life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, January 19, 2018, at Hiland Park Assembly of God on East Avenue with Reverend Chad Six officiating.  Visitation will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday.

A Second Celebration of Bernice’s life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 20, 2018, at Cope-Keahey Funeral Home Chapel in Evergreen, Alabama.  Visitation will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday.
